Restoring Baobab Creek: a volunteer-led project in Jessore
A neighborhood-led restoration of Baobab Creek needs $200 for saplings and equipment.
🇧🇩 Bangladesh2,009 views
Baobab Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 57 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 129 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $200 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $90
• Native saplings and stakes: $105
• Signage and educational materials: $5
Glad we found this place.

Sending good thoughts, Mahin. I hope things turn around soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Thanks for sharing this. Hope this works out for you. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Jessore.
