Restoring Baobab Beach: a volunteer-led project in Riverside
Help us clean and replant Baobab Beach before the September planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world2,654 views
Baobab Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 102 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 200 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,750 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $240
• Native saplings and stakes: $870
• Tools and protective gear: $640
Every share and every dollar helps.
Updates from Diya
Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,028 in total) the plan for native saplings and stakes is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Wanted to say thank you properly. 24% funded and I made the first payment toward tools and protective gear.

This could happen to any of us. Love from Narayanganj.
I hope things turn around soon. Thinking of Riverside.
Shared it with a few friends. I'm in public service myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. God bless.
hang in there. Hope you get there. My neighbor in Alexandria donated after I showed her your page. Blessings.
Stay strong, Diya. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best
