Restoring Acacia Beach: a volunteer-led project in Thane
Help us clean and replant Acacia Beach before the August planting window closes.
🇮🇳 Thane, Maharashtra, India1,159 views
Acacia Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This May, 86 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 106 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $400 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $195
• Waste removal and skip hire: $125
• Tools and protective gear: $80
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

hope things get better soon. Shared this with my family. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from São Paulo.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Nisha.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. native saplings and stakes comes first ($195) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for asking.
Sending love, Nisha. Hope you get there. Sent it to 30 people at work.
Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I'm in public service myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from San Diego.
