Resettlement support for 9 people arriving in Savar

After fleeing Venezuela, the Shevchenko family has arrived in Savar with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

Savar
My family left Venezuela 13 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Savar. We're a family of four and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in September. I was a nurse in Venezuela, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $200 goes: • Phone and internet for school and job search: $25 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $105 • Language classes and bus passes: $70 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Fort Collins donated after I showed her your page.

    • hang in there, Omar. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
