My family left Somalia 13 months ago after the war reached our town. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Karachi. We're a family of five and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in October. I was a mechanic in Somalia, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $500 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $210 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $145 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $40 • Language classes and bus passes: $70 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $35 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
