My family left Ethiopia 5 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Bronx. We're a family of six and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in May.
I was an engineer in Ethiopia, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).
Where the $4,450 goes:
• Rent deposit and first month: $2,000
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $1,200
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $840
• Language classes and bus passes: $260
• Phone and internet for school and job search: $150
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Good luck, Donna. Shared this with my family. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. God bless.
Hope things get better soon, Donna. Hope you get there.
