My family left Yemen 8 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Joliet. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in November.
I was a pharmacist in Yemen, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).

• Phone and internet for school and job search: $110
• Rent deposit and first month: $2,850
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $800

Sure. The biggest one is language classes and bus passes, $390. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.
