Resettlement support for 5 people arriving in Detroit

After fleeing Eritrea, the Mohammadi family has arrived in Detroit with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

Detroit
My family left Eritrea 6 months ago after the conflict closed our school and clinic. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Detroit. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in January. I was a pharmacist in Eritrea, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $2,800 goes: • Winter clothing and school supplies: $800 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $130 • Language classes and bus passes: $370 • Rent deposit and first month: $1,500 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
