Resettlement support for 4 people arriving in Kampala
After fleeing the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Karimi family has arrived in Kampala with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

My family left the Democratic Republic of Congo 8 months ago after our home was destroyed. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Kampala. We're a family of four and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in June.
I was a farmer in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
Funds are managed by the Kampala Welcome Table charity, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rent deposit and first month: $220
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $200
• Language classes and bus passes: $80
Thank you for reading my story.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Zawadi.
Rent deposit and first month is $220 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page.
Sending strength, Zawadi. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in Oakland but we're thinking of you. All the best.
it takes guts to ask. Well done. Greetings from Accra.
Thanks for sharing this, Zawadi. Looking forward to the next update. Love from Stellenbosch!
