After fleeing Myanmar, the Haddad family has arrived in Istanbul with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

Istanbul
My family left Myanmar 10 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Istanbul. We're a family of seven and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in November. I was a mechanic in Myanmar, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $1,100 goes: • Winter clothing and school supplies: $195 • Rent deposit and first month: $570 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $335 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Gizem

  • Thinking of you and your family, Gizem. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best!

      • Sending good thoughts, Gizem. Hope this works out for you. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
