The wildfire hit the Riverside district on 6 March. My home was one of 15 damaged, and 12 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $7,550 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $4,250 • Clean water and purification supplies: $520 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $930 • Food parcels for displaced families: $860 • Tools and labor for repairs: $990 If you're reading this, thank you. - Gustavo

Thank you. If you're in Louisville I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks for looking so closely.

  • Hope this works out for you. Sent it to 18 people at work.

    • Rooting for you, Gustavo. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Louisville
