The tornado hit the Riverside settlement on 9 September. My home was one of 36 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $3,500 goes: • Clean water and purification supplies: $440 • Roofing sheets and timber: $1,950 • Tools and labor for repairs: $1,110 Thank you for reading my story.

Updates from Jaxon

  1. Quick update: $1,210 raised so far (35%). the plan for roofing sheets and timber is now scheduled. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($635 in total) the first invoice got paid this week. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Good luck, Jaxon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We're a small family in Hồ Chí Minh City but we're thinking of you. Love from Hồ Chí Minh City.

Keep going, Jaxon. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Put this on a community board in São Paulo this morning.

            • hang in there. Gave what I could, wish it was more. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. All the best!

              • take care, Jaxon. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Love from Da Nang.

                • Stay strong. Shared this with my family. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Los Angeles.
