The landslide hit the Riverside district on 21 March. My home was one of 63 damaged, and 13 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $850 goes:
• Food parcels for displaced families: $130
• Tools and labor for repairs: $165
• Roofing sheets and timber: $555

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Siva.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. food parcels for displaced families comes first ($130) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
Hang in there. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
