Rebuilding after the hurricane: the Hillcrest neighborhood needs your help
After the hurricane, families in the Hillcrest neighborhood need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇺🇸 Los Angeles, California, United States2,358 views
The hurricane hit the Hillcrest neighborhood on 23 August. My home was one of 75 damaged, and 7 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $7,300 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $5,000
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,000
• Food parcels for displaced families: $1,300
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Looking forward to the next update. Greetings from Liverpool
Stay strong. Shared it with a few friends. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home
Sending strength, Grayson. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 12 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
sending good thoughts. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Thinking of Los Angeles.
sending good thoughts, Grayson. This could happen to any of us. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care.
Hope it all works out, Grayson. Great idea, hope you get there. I'll check back for the next update. Take care
