Rebuilding after the house fire that spread across the block: Marketplace village needs your help
The house fire that spread across the block damaged 80 homes in Marketplace village. We're raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

The house fire that spread across the block hit Marketplace village on 30 May. My home was one of 80 damaged, and 6 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $580
• Clean water and purification supplies: $105
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $140
• Food parcels for displaced families: $150
• Tools and labor for repairs: $125
Thanks for being kind about this.

rooting for you. Hope this works out for you. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of Warri.
can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Warri
Thank you. If you're in Warri I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks for asking.
So sorry you're going through this. Your post was clear and honest. After 7 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Keep going. Shared it with a few friends. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Riyadh.
So sorry you're going through this, Queen. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
Thanks for sharing this. More neighborhoods should do this. Blessings
