Rebuilding after the earthquake: the Eastgate district needs your help
Neighbors in the Eastgate district are rebuilding after the earthquake; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The earthquake hit the Eastgate district on 12 September. My home was one of 46 damaged, and 4 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $1,350 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $460
• Clean water and purification supplies: $105
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $175
• Food parcels for displaced families: $250
• Tools and labor for repairs: $360
Glad we found this place.

hang in there, Kirana. I hope things turn around soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like!
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kirana.
Roofing sheets and timber is $460 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Fair thing to want to know.
sending good thoughts, Kirana. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. All the best.
Hang in there. Great idea, hope you get there. My husband and I read this together.
