The cyclone hit the Lakeview neighborhood on 21 April. My home was one of 65 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $550 goes: • Clean water and purification supplies: $125 • Tools and labor for repairs: $100 • Roofing sheets and timber: $250 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $75 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  • Hope things get better soon. More neighborhoods should do this. Love from Pretoria

    • Rooting for you, Ishita. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected

      • Stay strong. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't give up. Thinking of Kochi.
