Following a long illness in the family, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Monday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $2,250. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by June, we must leave. I have two young children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $2,250 goes: • Rent arrears (2 months): $1,350 • Late fees and court costs: $160 • Utilities in arrears: $220 • First month of rent as a buffer: $520 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Raúl

Best of luck, Raúl. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Take care.
