Ratul was diagnosed with colon cancer in January. The oncology team at Dhaka Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in April. He will be away from work for about 6 weeks.
Ratul is 37, worked as a hairdresser until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Dhaka Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $160
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $85
• Transport to Dhaka Cancer Centre: $85
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $670
