I live with a rare neuromuscular condition. My occupational therapist at the Miami Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a communication tablet with eye tracking. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $5,350. My current equipment is 11 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 5 weeks. With the right equipment I could get to the shops and visit friends. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $5,350 goes: • communication tablet with eye tracking: $4,850 • Fitting and training sessions: $360 • Delivery and set-up: $140 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
