Following a long illness in the family, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $400.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I have a teenager still in school at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $400 goes:
• Rent arrears (5 months): $300
• Utilities in arrears: $45
• Late fees and court costs: $55

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Ramon.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rent arrears (5 months) comes first ($300) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. I'll keep the page updated.
