In April I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. My oncology team at Bornova Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in July. I was told to expect about 3 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 40, I worked as a farmer until April, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Bornova Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,050 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $580 • Scans and lab work: $350 • Transport to Bornova Cancer Centre: $120 Glad we found this place.
