Prayagraj heatwave relief - the Sunrise neighborhood

Neighbors in the Sunrise neighborhood are rebuilding after the heatwave; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

Prayagraj
The heatwave hit the Sunrise neighborhood on 12 April. My home was one of 47 damaged, and 6 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $1,050 goes: • Clean water and purification supplies: $150 • Roofing sheets and timber: $660 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $240 If you're reading this, thank you. - Aarti

Looking forward to the next update. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of Prayagraj.

Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Rohini.

Hang in there, Aarti. Shared this with my family. After 23 years in farming I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Blessings.
