Plant 982 native trees around the Jacaranda riverbank in Biratnagar
Help us clean and replant the Jacaranda riverbank before the January planting window closes.
🇳🇵 Nepal1,216 views
The Jacaranda riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This November, 65 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 75 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $200 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $50
• Signage and educational materials: $35
• Waste removal and skip hire: $115
Thanks for reading all this.

is there anything that isn't money that would help Renu?
Thank you. If you're in Biratnagar I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Ask me anything else.
Sending good thoughts, Renu. More neighborhoods should do this. Don't give up
