Plant 922 native trees around Acacia Creek in Ikeja
A neighborhood-led restoration of Acacia Creek needs $300 for saplings and equipment.
🇳🇬 Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria194 views
Acacia Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 57 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 66 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $185
• Waste removal and skip hire: $110
• Signage and educational materials: $5
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

It takes guts to ask. Well done. We're a small family in Strasbourg but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Ikeja.
Sending good thoughts, Halima. I hope things turn around soon. Love from Kraków.
So sorry you're going through this. More neighborhoods should do this. Put this on a community board in Tijuana this morning
Your post was clear and honest. I have a 17 year old who wants to send good wishes too!
