Plant 840 native trees around the Maple riverbank in Houston
Volunteers are restoring the Maple riverbank in Houston; $1,350 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇺🇸 Houston, Texas, United States2,195 views
The Maple riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 48 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 173 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,350 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $580
• Signage and educational materials: $310
• Waste removal and skip hire: $460
I hope life is good to you.

You're not alone, Lillian. This could happen to any of us. All the best
is there anything that isn't money that would help Lillian?
Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about tools and protective gear, advice is welcome too. Happy to explain more.
Sending strength, Lillian. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. All the best
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Lillian.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. tools and protective gear comes first ($580) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Happy to explain more.
Hope it all works out, Lillian. Looking forward to the next update. Take care.
Take care. Hope you get there. My husband and I read this together. Love from Kyiv.
Hang in there. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
