Plant 4,950 native trees around the Harmony canal in Gaya
Volunteers are restoring the Harmony canal in Gaya; $300 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
Anywhere in the world1,485 views
The Harmony canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 72 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 147 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $220
• Signage and educational materials: $15
• Waste removal and skip hire: $65
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Vishnu.
Native saplings and stakes is $220 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Fair thing to want to know.
Thanks for sharing this, Vishnu. Shared it with a few friends. I hope November is when things finally get easier
Take care, Vishnu. Looking forward to the next update.
