Plant 4,850 native trees around the Lotus canal in Tlaquepaque
Volunteers are restoring the Lotus canal in Tlaquepaque; $750 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.

The Lotus canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 89 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 82 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $750 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $370
• Tools and protective gear: $105
• Waste removal and skip hire: $200
• Signage and educational materials: $75
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Thanks for sharing this, Leonardo. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
Hope things get better soon, Leonardo. I hope things turn around soon. God bless
