Plant 4,800 native trees around the Cedar canal in Novosibirsk
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Cedar canal needs $450 for saplings and equipment.
🇷🇺 Novosibirsk, Novosibirsk Oblast, Russia1,172 views
The Cedar canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This May, 91 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 165 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $450 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $35
• Waste removal and skip hire: $150
• Native saplings and stakes: $265
I hope life is good to you.

Sending good thoughts. Looking forward to the next update. We're a small family in Miami but we're thinking of you. God bless.
Sending strength, Denis. Hope this works out for you. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
Good luck, Denis. Shared it with a few friends. I have a 5 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Blessings.
rooting for you. Great idea, hope you get there. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Best of luck. More neighborhoods should do this. Love from Tampa.
Hang in there. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Abuja
