Plant 4,400 native trees around Cedar Beach in Newcastle
Help us clean and replant Cedar Beach before the September planting window closes.
🇦🇺 Australia176 views
Cedar Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This May, 86 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 104 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,400
• Tools and protective gear: $240
• Waste removal and skip hire: $600
• Signage and educational materials: $260

You're not alone. Great idea, hope you get there. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Greetings from Alexandria.
Rooting for you. I hope things turn around soon. After 13 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. All the best.
