Los Angeles
Sycamore Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 73 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 162 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage. Where the $1,100 goes: • Waste removal and skip hire: $460 • Signage and educational materials: $145 • Tools and protective gear: $495 Glad we found this place.

Updates from Kevin

  1. Update from Los Angeles: we've started the first stage. We're at 6% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($12 in total) I made the first payment toward signage and educational materials. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Praying for you. Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Los Angeles!
