Plant 4,000 native trees around the Cedar wetland in Riverside
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Cedar wetland needs $2,400 for saplings and equipment.
Anywhere in the world1,402 views
The Cedar wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This January, 70 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 128 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,400 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $250
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,500
• Tools and protective gear: $650

Sending good thoughts. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Love from Noida.

best of luck. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out
Praying for you, Craig. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 8 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Dallas
