Plant 3,950 native trees around Liberty Beach in Bengaluru
Volunteers are restoring Liberty Beach in Bengaluru; $300 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇮🇳 Bengaluru, Karnataka, India697 views
Liberty Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 116 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 56 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $140
• Tools and protective gear: $50
• Waste removal and skip hire: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $40
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Greetings from Jacksonville!
how is Madhavan doing now?
Rooting for you, Madhavan. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Madhavan.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. native saplings and stakes comes first ($140) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Ask me anything else.
Wishing you the best, Madhavan. I hope things turn around soon. My neighbor in Kyiv donated after I showed her your page.
This could happen to any of us. We're a small family in Quezon City but we're thinking of you. Love from Quezon City.
Good luck. Hope you get there. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Blessings.
