Keep a roof over Isaac's head in Lagos
A delayed insurance payout left Isaac short on rent for 4 months; help us stay in our home.
🇳🇬 Lagos, Nigeria1,604 views
Following a long illness in the family, I fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Monday a final eviction notice was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $650.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I've 1 children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working night deliveries, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $650 goes:
• Rent arrears (4 months): $460
• Late fees and court costs: $40
• Utilities in arrears: $45
• First month of rent as a buffer: $105
Glad we found this place.

is there anything that isn't money that would help Isaac?
Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about rent arrears (4 months), advice is welcome too. It helps to be asked.
Hang in there, Isaac. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from San Cristóbal de las Casas.
gave what I could, wish it was more. Thinking of Lagos.
