Plant 3,800 native trees around the Union wetland in Bellevue
Volunteers are restoring the Union wetland in Bellevue; $2,500 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇺🇸 Bellevue, Washington, United States1,952 views
The Union wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 46 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 165 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,250
• Tools and protective gear: $380
• Waste removal and skip hire: $730
• Signage and educational materials: $140
Thanks for being kind about this.

stay strong, Jaxon. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Wish I lived closer to Spanish Town so I could bring a meal. Blessings.
