Plant 3,800 native trees around Baobab Beach in Frankfurt
Volunteers are restoring Baobab Beach in Frankfurt; $2,200 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇩🇪 Hesse, Germany433 views
Baobab Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 91 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 72 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,200 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $620
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,100
• Tools and protective gear: $480
Thank you so much.

Updates from Günter
Thank you all. We're at 5% now ($110). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts.
4% there. I made the first payment toward waste removal and skip hire. Thank you.
Update from Frankfurt: the plan for tools and protective gear is now scheduled. We're at 3% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

Hope you get there. Love from Huntsville.
Stay strong, Günter. Your post was clear and honest. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Los Angeles.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Günter!
Waste removal and skip hire is $620 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. I'll keep the page updated.
wishing you the best. More neighborhoods should do this. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Good luck, Günter. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Love from Erie.
you're not alone, Günter. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
