Plant 3,550 native trees around the Union hillside in Amsterdam
Help us clean and replant the Union hillside before the November planting window closes.
🇳🇱 Netherlands1,042 views
The Union hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 80 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 73 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $340
• Signage and educational materials: $135
• Native saplings and stakes: $975
Glad we found this place.

Stay strong, Sophie. More neighborhoods should do this.
stay strong. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money
best of luck. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My husband and I read this together. Take care.
Sending strength, Sophie. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it
stay strong, Sophie. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
