Plant 3,200 native trees around Maple Creek in Gazipur
A neighborhood-led restoration of Maple Creek needs $150 for saplings and equipment.
🇧🇩 Gazipur, Dhaka, Bangladesh447 views
Maple Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This April, 96 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 162 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $150 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $60
• Signage and educational materials: $25
• Waste removal and skip hire: $65
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Sending love. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in teaching myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from San Francisco.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Farhana?
Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about tools and protective gear, advice is welcome too. It helps to be asked.
Rooting for you, Farhana. More neighborhoods should do this. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in Nairobi but we're thinking of you. Take care.
