Plant 3,150 native trees around the Maple hillside in Bengaluru
Volunteers are restoring the Maple hillside in Bengaluru; $450 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇮🇳 Bengaluru, Karnataka, India391 views
The Maple hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 88 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 68 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $450 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $270
• Tools and protective gear: $80
• Waste removal and skip hire: $65
• Signage and educational materials: $35
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Take care, Girish. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Please keep us posted. All the best.
Praying for you, Girish. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 24 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Bengaluru.
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Take care.
