Lagos

The Unity canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 37 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 45 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage. Where the $250 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $135 • Waste removal and skip hire: $70 • Signage and educational materials: $45 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Updates from Idowu

Thank you all. We're at 69% now ($174). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for signage and educational materials is now scheduled.
Thank you all. We're at 39% now ($99). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($70 in total) I made the first payment toward signage and educational materials. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

It takes guts to ask. Well done. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Hồ Chí Minh City
