Plant 3,050 native trees around the Liberty wetland in Cartagena
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Liberty wetland needs $450 for saplings and equipment.
🇨🇴 Colombia839 views
The Liberty wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This May, 60 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 103 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $450 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $110
• Signage and educational materials: $25
• Native saplings and stakes: $315
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Cartagena.
Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about tools and protective gear, advice is welcome too. Thanks for looking so closely.
