Plant 2,950 native trees around Union Creek in Yonkers
Help us clean and replant Union Creek before the January planting window closes.
🇺🇸 United States1,891 views
Union Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 116 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 176 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $790
• Tools and protective gear: $510
• Waste removal and skip hire: $800
• Signage and educational materials: $200
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Thinking of you, Elena. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I hope January is when things finally get easier.
Wishing you the best, Elena. Looking forward to the next update. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. God bless.
So sorry you're going through this. Shared this with my family. Thinking of Yonkers.
