Plant 2,950 native trees around the Maple riverbank in Thiruvananthapuram
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Maple riverbank needs $350 for saplings and equipment.
🇮🇳 India614 views
The Maple riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 99 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 170 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $170
• Tools and protective gear: $75
• Waste removal and skip hire: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $35
I hope life is good to you.

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Thiruvananthapuram
praying for you, Dhruv. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
Great idea, hope you get there. I went through something like this 4 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.
