Plant 2,900 native trees around the Jacaranda hillside in Thika
Help us clean and replant the Jacaranda hillside before the May planting window closes.

The Jacaranda hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This January, 94 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 54 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $230
• Signage and educational materials: $15
• Waste removal and skip hire: $55

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Opio?
Thank you. If you're in Thika I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Let me know if you want more detail.
So sorry you're going through this, Opio. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We're a small family in Mumbai but we're thinking of you. All the best.
Wishing you the best. Hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Wishing you the best. This could happen to any of us. Don't give up. Love from Bandung
Sending strength, Opio. Great idea, hope you get there. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
So sorry you're going through this. More neighborhoods should do this. God bless
Praying for you, Opio. Looking forward to the next update. Blessings
hope it all works out, Opio. Your post was clear and honest. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Arlington.
Hope things get better soon. Shared this with my family. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too!
