Plant 2,800 native trees around the Maple hillside in Aurora
Help us clean and replant the Maple hillside before the October planting window closes.
🇺🇸 Aurora, Illinois, United States495 views
The Maple hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 92 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 85 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $610
• Native saplings and stakes: $620
• Signage and educational materials: $220
If you're reading this, thank you.

Hang in there. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Ciudad de México so I could bring a meal.
Sending good thoughts, Doris. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Love from Melbourne
So sorry you're going through this, Doris. Hope you get there. Wish I lived closer to Cardiff so I could bring a meal. God bless.
Wishing you peace, Doris. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like
hope you get there. Thinking of Aurora
