Plant 2,600 native trees around the Sycamore hillside in Jinja
Help us clean and replant the Sycamore hillside before the October planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world305 views
The Sycamore hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 60 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 64 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $45
• Native saplings and stakes: $155
• Waste removal and skip hire: $100
Every share and every dollar helps.

Hope it all works out, Imani. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in Hyderabad donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Jinja.
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We're a small family in Dar es Salaam but we're thinking of you. Love from Dar es Salaam.
thinking of you and your family, Imani. This could happen to any of us. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
Thinking of you and your family, Imani. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings.
Wishing you peace. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 37 people at work!
