Plant 2,600 native trees around Acacia Creek in Surabaya
A neighborhood-led restoration of Acacia Creek needs $500 for saplings and equipment.
🇮🇩 East Java, Indonesia1,299 views
Acacia Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 76 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 53 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $500 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $270
• Tools and protective gear: $90
• Waste removal and skip hire: $130
• Signage and educational materials: $10
I hope life is good to you.

Hang in there. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Surabaya
Stay strong, Gunawan. Looking forward to the next update. Wish I lived closer to Aurangabad so I could bring a meal. God bless.
