Surakarta
The Cedar hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This February, 116 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 195 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage. Where the $250 goes: • Signage and educational materials: $50 • Waste removal and skip hire: $100 • Tools and protective gear: $100 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Siti

Updates from Siti

  1. 44% there. I made the first payment toward signage and educational materials. Thank you.

  2. Quick update: $80 raised so far (32%). we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Receipts coming as soon as I have them. - Siti

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($55 in total) I made the first payment toward waste removal and skip hire. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Sending strength, Siti. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Prayagraj

    • Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I'm in customer support myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.

      • It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 9 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Braunschweig
