Plant 2,050 native trees around the Cedar canal in Fort Worth
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Cedar canal needs $2,350 for saplings and equipment.
Anywhere in the world799 views
The Cedar canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This January, 41 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 118 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $940
• Tools and protective gear: $540
• Waste removal and skip hire: $730
• Signage and educational materials: $140
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

more neighborhoods should do this. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Birmingham.
good luck, Verónica. More neighborhoods should do this. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
Sending good thoughts, Verónica. Hope you get there. We're a small family in Rome but we're thinking of you.
Keep going. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Fort Worth
Hope it all works out. Looking forward to the next update. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. All the best
Stay strong. I hope things turn around soon. Don't give up. God bless.
