Plant 1,900 native trees around the Harmony hillside in Berlin
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Harmony hillside needs $2,550 for saplings and equipment.
🇩🇪 Berlin, Berlin, Germany4,045 views
The Harmony hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 56 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 115 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,650
• Tools and protective gear: $520
• Waste removal and skip hire: $210
• Signage and educational materials: $170
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

more neighborhoods should do this. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings
Good luck, Kemal. Looking forward to the next update. God bless.
